The build-up · 5 layers
Scroll through what sits between your ceiling and the sky — bottom deck to finished skin. Every layer specified, none assumed.
Structural base
Plywood or OSB fastened to the rafters. We re-nail and replace soft sheathing before anything goes on top — a roof is only as flat as what's under it.
Moisture barrier
Synthetic, tear-resistant, fully lapped. The last line of defense if the finish layer is ever breached. We never reuse felt.
Sealed zones
Self-adhering membrane at valleys, eaves, and every penetration — the points where 90% of leaks actually start. Sealed around the nail.
Thermal + airflow
A continuous ventilation gap moves heat and moisture out of the assembly. Skip it and the deck rots from the inside — invisibly, for years.
The skin
Slate, cedar shake, or standing seam — chosen for your climate and load, not the showroom. The only layer you'll ever see.
Full structural inspection — decking, flashing, drainage. Documented in writing before we quote.
Every Architype installation is completed by in-house crews. The person who quoted it is on-site the day it's built.
Workmanship warranty — not the manufacturer's. If it leaks for any reason, we come back and fix it.
